PROGRAMME IN TANZANIA (2009 - 2014)
 

 

OVERVIEW
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of the 21st century with serious consequences to sustainable livelihoods and economic development. The CCIAM programme is implemented through the support of the Government of the Royal Kingdom of Norway under the climate change forest initiative to the Government of Tanzania. The initiative will support climate change adaptation and mitigation initiatives including piloting (Reduced Emissions from Deforestations and forest Degradation) - REDD. The emphasis is to enhance Carbon sequestration and storage through ecosystem payment mechanisms to promote of natural forest conservation, afforestation, reforestation and better agricultural practices for improved livelihoods.

GOAL
Better Management of Natural Resources and the Environment through Appropriate Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies and Participation in Climate Change Initiatives.

PURPOSE
Develop and Sustain Adequacy in National Capacity to participate in Climate Change Initiatives and Address the Effects and Challenges of Climate Change

MAIN OBJECTIVE
To develop and sustain adequacy in national capacity to participate in climate change initiatives and address the effects and challenges of climate change with particular emphasis to the REDD initiatives.
