Background
Prof Mattee holds a B.Sc. (Agric.) (Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam; M.Sc. and PhD (Cont. Educ.) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, In addition to his regular academic activities at the university he has also acted as Head of Department, Department of Agricultural Education and Extension, October 1984 - June 1987 and July 1990 - June, 1996; Associate Dean, Faculty of Agriculture July 1991 -June, 1997; and Director, SUA Centre for Sustainable Rural Development, July 1999 - June, 2005.
