Appointment
Dr. Raphael Chibunda (Senior Lecturer) was appointed as the Assistant Director responsible for Research and Development in the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology, Dar es Salaam Tanzania. -
Scholarship
Dr. Alfred Benign was granted a scholarship by Malaria Research Training Program to pursue MVM (Molecular Biology) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (October 2008 to September 2010).Dr. Gaymary Bakari was granted a scholarship by Tanzania Carnergie Rise African Network for Research and Training in Natural Products (CR-AFNET) to pursue PhD at Sokoine University of Agriculture (April 2009 to April 2011).
Dr. Ally Mohamed and James Mushi were granted a scholarship by VLIR to pursue MSc ( Molecular Biology) at VRIJE UNIVERSITY BRUSSEL in Belgium (September 2009 to September 2011).

Research Associateship
Three Researchers from United States of America Prof. Clinton W. Epps, Dr. Chantal Stoner and Rachel Crowhurst (MSc. Student), will spend two years at the Department working on Wildlife population (Assessing the Behavioral, Physiological and Reproductive characteristics of Ungulate Populations across Protected Area system and Surrounding areas.

Mission
The mission of the Department of Veterinary Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology is:
- To produce high calibre graduates who provide quality services to Farmers, Government, National and International Institutions.
- To provide Diagnostic services, Consultancy, Research, Extension, Advisory and Clinical Services nationally, regionally and internationally.
- To generate relevant technologies through research.
RESEARCH:
Members in the department are actively engaged in several exciting and cutting-edge areas of research in basic and applied physiology, patho-physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology. Areas of research interest include: mineral metabolism, natural products, alternative control of gastrointestinal nematodes, basic cellular physiology of endocrine signaling, ion transport and cellular stress responses.
